Due to the absence of a meteorological in this area, Cherrapunjee is still officially considered the place receiving the highest rainfall in the world. The village is blessed with heavenly beauty. The winding roads running along the lush green vegetation offering great views of the snow-clad mountains, views of blooming orchids and beautiful waterfalls leaping into gorges leave one under the spell of natural beauty. When it rains heavily, the place is cloaked in mist, which is such a great thing to experience.
Mawsynram is dotted with a cave called Mawjymbuin. The stalagmite naturally fashioned into a Shivalinga inside the cave is truly noteworthy. Symper Rock is another attraction which is a loaf-shaped rocky dome with an almost flat roof. |
