Bishop And Beadon Waterfall

Bishop Waterfall Meghalaya

Shillong is an arresting tourist destination with mesmerizing waterfalls such as Bishop and Beadon. Cascading down the same escarpment into a deep valley, these waterfalls are picturesque. The Beadon waterfall is located only two km from Bara Bazaar. There is a hydroelectric powerhouse at the base of the falls. Bishop is located in close vicinity of the Beadon falls. They combine together and flow into the Umiam River.

Fashioned like the Scottish highlands, Shillong is often known as the “Scotland of the East”. This romantic city got its name from “Leishyllong”, the deity who is believed to reside on the Shillong peak. The climate of the city is quite cold in winters and hot and humid during summers. Rainy season starts from June and ends in August. The most favourable time to come here is between October to April. The heavenly vistas and pleasant climate make Shillong a popular tourist destination.

There is a State Museum in Shillong where you can see the rich heritage of the Khasi tribe of Meghalaya. There is also a Butterfly Museum which is a home to a rare collection of butterflies and moths. Other places of tourist interest here are the Botanical Garden, Golf Course and several churches.
