It is a junction and supply point for the South District of Sikkim which is the reason behind its growth and development. It houses a beautiful monastery called Bermoik Monastery. It was built in 1952 and follows the Nyingma sect of Buddhism. One of the best attractions near Sintam is the Dzongu valley which is easily accessible from Singtom town. This valley is the proud home to numerous trees bearing abundant oranges. The beauty and purity of this valley is still untouched by the damaging pollution of the cities. Earlier it was formidable place for tourists and was restricted to the Lepchas. However, now it has been opened to one and all. The valley has forest and rivers which attracts many tourists. Singtam is situated only 30 km from the capital city of Sikkim, Gangtok. Regular bus and Jeep services connect Singtam with Gangtok and Siliguri.
