Blessed with a heavenly location in the Himalayas, Geyzing is the capital of West Sikkim District. Also known as Gyalshing, it occupies an important place in West Sikkim. On its western side lies the placid Rangeet River on the Rathong-Kalet interfluve. The Geyzing town is easily accessible from Gangtok(capital of Sikkim) which is around 110 km away from it. It is the most thickly populated town in the whole of west Sikkim. Regular buses and Jeeps connect the town with Gangtok. On your tour to Geyzing do visit its bustling Friday market wherein the villagers bring their products and handicrafts for selling. The town is dotted with a rest house, a hospital, a school and a hydroelectric project which shows that its growing, though at its own pace. It is quite cold in winters and pleasant in summers.

Nestled at an altitude of 6,500 ft, Geyzing enjoys a pleasant climate round the year. If you arrive here in winters, then you might get a chance to see snowfall. Just imagine how romantic it would be to watch such a mesmerizing activity. Apart from this, the town provides a wonderful opportunity for trekking and mountaineering expeditions in the Himalayas.

The Palace of the Chogyals: The Pemayangste Monastry offer views of the ruins of the first palace of the Chogyals kingdom.

Pelling: It is located only 10 km from Geyzing. Here you will get a chance to enjoy wonderful sights.
