About The Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary:
Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is an important wildlife sanctuary in Mizoram. It is located near the Indo-Myanmar and Indo-Bangladesh border. Covering an area of 110 sq km, the sanctuary is under the supervision of Range Officer with headquarters Ngengpui and 5 Beat Officers under the control of DFO Chhimtuipui Forest Division. The altitude of the sanctuary ranges from 200 m to 1200 m. There are seven villages in close vicinity of the sanctuary.

The sub-tropical evergreen/semi-evergreen forests of the sanctuary are a natural home to a wide variety of wildlife. Here you will get a chance to see some great botanical species. Bamboo is the most prominent flora in the sanctuary.

The fauna in the sanctuary consists of tiger, clouded leopard, elephant, gaur, barking deer, sambar, wild boar, hoolock gibbon, rhesus macaque, leaf monkey, common langur and much more. The rare avian species sighted here are hornbills, pen-pheasant, tragopans, flower-peckers, sun-
birds and the list goes on.


How To Reach:
Air: Tuirial is the nearest airport but it does not offer regular flights. It is better to fly via Silchar airport.
Rail: The nearest railway station is Silchar(Assam).
Road: The sanctuary is well connected with Aizawl and Silchar by road.
