Lunglei MizoramLunglei town in Mizoram is 235 kilometers off Aizawl, the state capital. It is one of the most thickly populated towns of Mizoram. According to the census of 2001, the population count of this district is 47,355. Rice is the chief crop grown through agriculture. Handloomed cloth, woven textiles, furniture, agricultural products and bamboo work are produced by the cottage industries set up in Lunglei. Lunglei is sometimes called Lungleh, meaning a 'bridge of rock'. This name is derived from the presence of a bridge near River Tlawng. This bridge looks like a rock. Lunglei has given Mizoram some of the biggest halls. Saikuti Hall is one such hall. It functions as an ideal place for conducting big functions and concerts. This massive hall houses a peculiar museum where the local painters display their unique paintings. Civil Hospital and Christian Hospital are two properly infrastructured and main hospitals out here in Lunglei. A spectacular variety of flora and fauna exists at Lunglei. The rolling hills and the natural beauty bowl over the visitors. Other attractions namely Zobawk, Dampa wildlife Sanctuary, Tawi wildlife Sanctuary, Ngengpui wildlife Sanctuary and Rengdil bird Sanctuary are also big hits among the tourists.
