Memorial of Chhingpui

Memorial of Chhingpui is a memorial stone erected in the memory of a charming young woman named Chhingpui. It is located in an area between Baktawang and Chhingchhip village on the Aizawl-Lunglei road. This lady belonged to a wealthy family and was endowed with incredible beauty. Many young men were desirous to get married to her. Among all she was inclined towards a young man Kaptuanga and tied the knot with him. They were living a happy married life but misfortune raised it ugly head when war broke out between the rival chiefs. Chhingpui was abducted and was put to death. It was a grave loss to Kaptuanga which he could not bear. Grief-stricken Kaptuanga killed himself. The Memorial of Chhingpui reminds the people about the passionate love of Chhingpui and Kaptuanga.
