Surrounded by the beautiful hills, Dumboor Lake is a major tourist attraction in Tripura. Lush green vegetation cloaking the hills leave the onlookers enchanted. The lake covers an area of 41 sq km and is dotted with 48 islands. It is situated at a distance of 110 km from the capital city Agartala. Tourists come to the lake especially in winters as during this time several migratory birds can be spotted here. It is also a home to fishes. The lake is the confluence of Raima and Sarma rivers. Another attraction is the nearby Hydel Project where river Gomati originates and is called 'Tirthamukh'. This place comes alive on 14th January every year when it becomes the venue for the famous 'Poush Sankranti Mela'.


Dumboor lake is well connected with the north eastern cities of India. The nearest airport is at Agartala. Once you reach Agartala you can reach the lake by bus or taxi. The nearest railway station is at Kumarghat from where you can easily reach the lake by road. Good accommodation is available at the Raima Tourist Lodge at Jatanbari. Another accommodation is Eden Tourist Lodge at the Vangmun village which offers good facilities and services. A visit to the Dumboor lake is truly worthwhile.
