Nestled in the celestial Himalayas, Bomdila is famous for its number of attractions. It is located at an altitude of 3,500 m and remain draped in snow for a major part of the year. It is the headquarters of the west Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh. It is the perfect place to spend summer holidays. There is so much to enjoy at Bomdila. The town is surrounded by Apple orchards. The route to Bomdila from Tezpur is dotted with pine trees dancing on the rhythm of wind.


Bomdila also boasts of a beautiful river named Bharali which offers great angling opportunity. Mahaseer is found in abundance in this river. So you can have a great angling expedition here! Do you wish to see a wide range of Orchids? Head for Tipi, an Orchid conservation centre on a hill. It is a glasshouse full of colourful exotic orchids species and hybrids. Good news for wildlife enthusiast, Bomdila has a wildlife sanctuary known as Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary which houses a wide range of wildlife. The nearby places of Bomdila offer exciting opportunities for trekking and hiking.


Bomdila, highly influenced by Buddhism is dotted with several Gompas which are one of its tourist attractions. You can dine at the small eating-places to relish traditional Tibetan cuisine. Momos is one of the specialities of this cuisine. Also visit the Craft Centre at Bomdila where amazingly designed dragon carpets, traditional thangka (wall hangings), paintings and masks are on sale. Take your pick. Another place worth a visit is Ethnographic Museum. Accommodation options are available in and around Bomdila.


Located near Bomdila is a lovely town of Tawang. En route you will be rewarded with impressive views of the Dirang and Sela Pass(4,300m) valleys. This town is famous for its 400 year old Buddhist monastery.
